  • To ensure all players have appropriate separate drink bottles at all times
  • To keep a list of players and their contact numbers.
  • To hold and maintain playing jerseys for the season and delegate the washing and return of strip prior to each game.
  • To maintain an album with players' registration cards which must be taken to each game and shown to the opposing team's manager.
  • To complete all necessary team sheets/paperwork for each match
  • Collection of match fees and other monies where stated
  • Payment of referees fees as instructed
  • Inform team members/parents of fundraising and social functions
  • Assist the coach.
  • At the end of the season: Equipment - please ensure you return all equipment, shirts, balls etc. to the Gear Manager after the last game of the season.

Coachs Responsibilties

  • Attend Coaches and Managers meeting.
  • Be a positive role model for the club and towards your players.
  • Ensure players are enjoying the game of soccer and are having fun.
  • Respect the talent of all players and seek to further develop their skill levels.
  • Give all players equal playing time wherever possible.
  • Make a commitment to set team goals and disciplines which contribute to team and player excellence.
  • Treat each player as an individual.
  • Be fair and considerate.
  • Encourage the players to respect all officials and coaches.
  • Teach your team that the rules of soccer are based on a mutual agreement - both sides are playing to the same rules.
  • Actively discourage the use of drugs or other performance enhancing substances.
  • Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of the players.
  • Follow the advice of a doctor or medical professional regarding injuries.
  • Young players need some special considerations. Demands on young bodies energy and enthusiasm; eg. growth & development differences; length of practise time; maturity (both physical, mental & emotional) should be considered.
  • Winning should only be part of their motivation. Never ridicule or yell at children for making mistakes or losing a game.
  • Consider your own personal development as a Coach. You should strive to obtain a Coach's Junior level certificate or higher.

Players Responsibilities

  • Uphold and be proud of the good name of Prospect United Soccer Club. (All Players are ambassadors of the Club).
  • Play by the rules.
  • Players should strive to achieve the highest possible level at which he/she is capable of playing. Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team's performance will benefit, and so will you.
  • Attend all training sessions. If you are unable to attend then please ring your coach. (Common courtesy).
  • Ensure you know where and when your next game is held and arrive early for the game. Your coach will tell you how long before a game you should be there.
  • If you are unable to attend a game, please ring your coach as soon as possible.
  • All players must have their soccer boots, shin pads, socks and shorts for every game.
  • Be a good sportsman on and off the field.
  • Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager talk to the official during a break or after the game.
  • Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted in any sport.
  • Play for the fun of it, and not just to please parents and coaches.

Parents and Spectators Responsibilities

  • Encourage children to participate, do not force them. Remember that organised sport is predominately for your children's enjoyment, not yours.
  • There is only ONE coach. Don't confuse your child by calling advice from the sideline. The coach makes decisions for specific reasons, which may not always be obvious from a spectator's viewpoint. Focus on the child's efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
  • Encourage players to always participate by the rules and official's decisions.
  • Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game. Positive comments are motivational.
  • Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good performance and efforts from each team. Congratulate all participants upon their performance regardless of the game's outcome.
  • It is the team who wins or loses, not any individual/s.
  • Respect official's decisions and teach children to do likewise. The referee has the final decision. If there has been a serious misjudgment during the game your coach will handle this formally, through the appropriate channels. This is not the job of any spectator or parent.
  • Give your child sufficient time to be ready and get to a game - he/she will not play well if rushed or worried about getting to the game on time.
  • When it is your team's turn to nominate helpers for the Canteen and BBQ please accept readily.
  • Parents: Help set up soccer field - ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards.
  • Ensure that William Lawson Park is kept clean and tidy.
  • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities. Do not use foul language or harass players, coaches or officials. Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players.
  • Parents remain responsible for their children at all times. Please do not leave your children at training or games unsupervised. Coaches and Managers are there to try and help your children play soccer and not to take over supervision of your children.
  • Most importantly - your child is there to have fun, make some new friends, and enjoy the benefits which go with a team sport and a good, sound Club.
