Mission Statement
Prospect United will foster soccer players to be the very best they can be, whilst striving to ensure every player, male or female, regardless of nationality enjoys playing soccer. The Club will strive to encourage players to learn and participate in the game of soccer whilst being taught the ideals of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Strategies
- Promote and maintain family values throughout the club, both on and off the field for the enjoyment of all.
- Foster a culture where poor behaviour on and off the field is not tolerated.
- Ensure Players, Coaches, Managers, Officials and Spectators are aware of and abide by the codes of conduct.
- Create a culture whereby the rooballers and juniors look up to and aspire to be like the seniors.
- Pride in the Prospect United emblem and what that represents - fairness, integrity, perseverance and playing hard.
- Engaging top class coaches with appropriate training to ensure all players have the opportunity to excel in the game of soccer.
- Focus on ensuring the grounds are maintained to the highest possible standard.
- Provide the fairest rates possible for the enjoyment of all players regardless of financial capability.
Newsletter
Newsletters are published on a monthly basis throughout the season. They are available electronically via the web or a limited number of hardcopies from the canteen. They provide vital information about upcoming events, important information and various other interesting articles regarding soccer.
Sponsors
You will also note a number of sponsor's advertisements in the newsletter on the website and around the ground. These are companies and/or individuals that have taken sponsorship and advertising for the season. So support these sponsors and don't forget to say where you saw their advertisement. If your company would like to sponsor the club or you know of someone who would like to sponsor the club please contact the secretary. The more money we get from sponsorship the better facilities and equipment we can provide for the children.
Social Events & Fundraising
Socials
Socials are organised for the benefit of all members, players, coaches, managers and parents. The aim is to engender a closer association with others from your Club - not to make a profit. This may lead to long lasting friendships, good business contacts, or it might just result in knowing a few more faces to say 'hi' to. We urge you to attend social activities whenever possible. Details are in your monthly newsletter, website and signposted at the home ground canteen - you never know, you might just have a good time!
Fundraising
Obviously, this is vital to any amateur club. At registration we relieve you of the burden of selling chocolates by charging a fundraising levy. This levy replaces the selling of chocolates only. There will be many other ways in which fundraising will be conducted throughout the year and we ask you for your support (both financial and occasionally physical) so that we can assist your children to continue in a worthwhile sport. PUFC does not 'make profit'. All funds raised are 'ploughed back' into equipment, facilities and other needs of the members, players, coaches and managers of the Club.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What if it's been raining and I'm not sure if my game/training is on because of the bad weather?
A: Phone the wet weather council hotline on 9839 6575. If the recorded message says all fields are closed - then they are CLOSED. Also contact your coach or manager, they may have alternate training plans (Indoor soccer for example).
Q: How long before a game begins should I arrive?
A: Minimum of 30 minutes, but check with your coach.
Q: What if I am sick and can't make it to a game?
A: Call your coach or manager to let them know at the earliest possible time - they can then try to find a replacement.
Q: What if I can't find my socks on Saturday morning?
A: Look for them on Thursday night - this gives you an extra 36 hours searching time. Socks are also available for sale at the canteen if all else fails.
Q: What sort of insurance do players have?
A: The minimum requirements as necessary. We encourage you to seek private insurance.
Q: Who do I ring if I don't know where I'm playing?
A: Your manager or coach is always the best person to ring. They will also know of any changes that may have occurred. "Idea"- keep their phone numbers with you at all times and know where you are playing by Wednesday (don't wait until Saturday). If all else fails contact the competition secretary (see boards member page)
Q: What if Dad has to work on Saturday and I can't get to a game?
A: Try to get a lift from a team mate - prior warning is useful. Inform your coach or manager if you can't find anyone.
Q: What if I need to know anything else?
A: Contact the club Secretary (see board members page).
PUSC History
The Club was founded in 1970 with the aim of providing and fostering sport within the Prospect area.
Since its first season of competition in 1971 we have been one of the strongest clubs in the district and will continue to strive to achieve this goal in the new millennium.
The Club caters for all ages and skill levels from Under 6's to State League. Our main aim is to have all players enjoy the game of soccer and develop sportsmanship and teamwork.
Our State League side since 1987 has kept a high standard of soccer within our club, which has given our juniors something to strive for (and achieve) in years to come.
The Club's Life Members have been an essential part in the success of the Club and have been immortalised on our Life Members board located in the canteen.
The new season promises to be very exciting with new ideas and continued success on and off the field.
Prospect United Victory Song
Well it's a grand-old team to play for,
It's a grand old team to see,
And if you know your history,
It's enough to make your heart go woooooo,
We don't care what (opposition team name) say,
What do we care,
'Cause we always know that there's gonna be a show,
When United will be there!
GO THE REDS !!!!
